MCT-Institute Denmark is run by and for its members, who are all therapists trained in Metacognitive therapy through the organisation Metacognitive Therapy Institute (MCTI). The organization was founded by Professor Adrian Wells from the University of Manchester, UK, and Professor Hans Nordahl from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. Both are leading international experts in cognitive and metacognitive psychological treatment and research.
The purpose of the MCT-Institute Denmark is to facilitate knowledge sharing and professional growth within Metacognitive Therapy and to ensure the quality and integrity of the method. Metacognitive Therapy represents an entirely new paradigm and a novel approach to treating mental health disorders. Unfortunately, as MCT has gained popularity, more practitioners are presenting themselves as MCT therapists without having sufficient training in the method. You can ensure the quality of your treatment by choosing a therapist certified by the MCT Institute. You can find the Danish list of certified therapists under “MCT-registered therapists in Denmark”.
On this site, you can also learn more about what Metacognitive Therapy is and which psychological disorders MCT is particularly effective in treating. You can find information about our upcoming events and stay updated on both Danish and international research in the field of Metacognitive Therapy.
